§ 01

When not to wait

Examples, not a full list. If you are worried, get checked.

Some symptoms need a doctor first, not a physio

Physiotherapy is for problems that can wait a day or two. If you have any of these, please don’t book online.

  • Numbness around your bottom or genitals
  • New problems controlling your bladder or bowels
  • Weakness in an arm or leg that is getting worse
  • Pain after a serious fall, crash or blow
  • A hot, swollen calf, especially after surgery
  • Pain with a fever or unexplained weight loss

Your first visit

Initial assessment

No referral needed

What happens in the first 45 minutes

Most of an initial assessment is listening and looking. By the end you’ll know what we think is going on, what to do about it and whether you need to come back.

Wear something you can move in: shorts for knees and hips, a vest top for shoulders. If you’re claiming on insurance, bring your authorisation number.

  1. 0 min

    Arrive and settle in

Seren checks you in. The rooms are on the ground floor, with step-free access from the street.

  2. 5 min

    Your story

How it started, what makes it better or worse, your work, your sport and what you want to get back to.

  3. 15 min

    How you move

We watch you move, test strength and joints, and check nerves where that matters.

  4. 30 min

    A plain explanation

What we think is going on, in plain English, and how long it usually takes to settle.

  5. 35 min

    Treatment and exercises

Hands-on treatment if it helps on the day, and two or three exercises to start at home.

  6. 45 min

    A plan you agree to

Written down: what to do, when to check back in, and the signs that mean you should call us sooner.

§ 03

      Patient stories

“Folake had me walking the dog round Priory Park six weeks after my knee replacement. Every session had a clear goal, and she told me exactly why each exercise mattered.”
      Dominic H. · Post-operative rehab
“I’d had heel pain for a year. Ruairi’s gait session showed I was overstriding, and with the calf programme I ran the whole half marathon without it flaring up.”
Ifeoma N. · Running gait analysis
“After my second baby I didn’t know who to ask. Harriet was kind, practical and never rushed me. I’m back at my Saturday netball and feel strong again.”
Mirela T. · Pelvic health physiotherapy
