MOT tests
How much is an MOT?
£45, which is less than the government’s maximum fee. Booked with any service it’s £35. If the car fails, the partial retest is free within 10 working days.
How early can I get my MOT done?
Up to a month (minus a day) before your current certificate runs out, and you keep the same renewal date. Our MOT date checker works out the exact day for you.
What happens if my car fails?
Kieran shows you what failed and why, and we give you a fixed price for the repair. If we fix it here, the retest is free. You’re free to take it elsewhere, of course.
Can I drive my car if the MOT has run out?
Usually only to a test that’s already booked, or to a garage for repairs that were found at a test. This is general information, not legal advice: check GOV.UK if you’re unsure.
Servicing and prices
Will servicing with you affect my manufacturer warranty?
No. You can have your car serviced at any garage as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses parts of matching quality. We do both, and stamp the book.
Is the price checker price what I’ll pay?
For most cars, yes. It’s a guide price that covers standard parts and labour. If your car needs something unusual (special oil, more spark plugs), we tell you the fixed price when we confirm the booking.
What’s the difference between interim, full and major services?
An interim service is an oil change and safety check for high-mileage drivers. A full service is the yearly one, adding filters and a road test. A major service adds spark plugs and brake fluid every second year.
What if you find something else wrong?
We stop and call you with a photo and a fixed price. Nothing extra is done without your OK, and you never pay for work you didn’t agree to.
Booking and courtesy cars
How do I get a courtesy car?
Tick “Courtesy car” when you book. We have two, free of charge, for drivers aged 21 or over with a full UK licence. The booking form shows how many are left on each day.
What time do I drop off and collect?
Drop-offs are from 7:30am on weekdays and 8am on Saturdays. Most cars are ready the same afternoon; we text you when yours is.
Can I wait while you work?
Yes, for short jobs: an MOT on its own, an interim service or a diagnostic check. The lounge has Wi-Fi, a coffee machine and a very comfortable sofa.
Are you open on Sundays or bank holidays?
No. We’re open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm, and closed on bank holidays. The booking calendar skips closed days for you.
Electric and hybrid cars
Do you work on electric cars?
Yes. Ade and Bethan are trained to work on high-voltage systems, and we have an insulated EV bay. We service, MOT and repair most electric cars and hybrids.
Do electric cars need servicing?
Less often, but yes: brakes, suspension, cooling, cabin filters and tyres all wear. Most makers want a yearly check to keep the battery warranty.
Paying
When and how do I pay?
When you collect: card, contactless or bank transfer. No deposits for routine work.
Do you give a warranty?
Every repair has 12 months’ parts and labour warranty, whatever the mileage.
