Wind-down
Finally put the phone down
I used to scroll until midnight. Now the wind-down nudge goes off, I put the phone on charge and listen to the rain sound instead. Simple, but it works for me.

Smart alarm
The alarm is the star
I work rotating shifts and the smart alarm makes the early ones less brutal. Waking at 05:40 instead of being dragged out of a dream at 06:00 makes a real difference to my morning.

Sleep sounds
No ads, no nonsense
Brown noise plus the fan sound blocks out the street outside my flat. No ads, and it doesn’t try to sell me supplements. The free plan is genuinely useful.

Sleep sounds
Lovely sounds, want more nature
The Highland burn sound is gorgeous and reminds me of home. I’d love a few more nature sounds on the free plan, but I understand why they’re in Premium.

Sleep diary
The diary showed me a pattern
After three weeks of notes it was obvious: coffee after 3pm and I’m lying awake. Not exactly a revelation, but seeing it written down got me to change.

Smart alarm
Good, but fussy about placement
The smart alarm works best when the phone is on the bedside table, not under the pillow. Once I sorted that it was fine, but it took me a few mornings to work out.

Breathing pacer is so calming
The glowing circle for 4-7-8 breathing is the nicest bit of design on my phone. My evening routine is now four steps and I actually look forward to it.

Price and plans
Fair price for what you get
Annual Premium works out at about £4 a month, which feels reasonable. Would be five stars with a cheaper student option on monthly billing too.

Sleep sounds
Sleeper train is perfect
I grew up taking the night train to visit family and the Sleeper train sound takes me straight back. I fall asleep before the timer ends most nights.

Sleep diary
Wanted more charts
The diary is nice but quite basic. I was hoping for more detailed graphs. Support replied quickly and said more are coming.

Wind-down
Kind, not preachy
Other apps made me feel guilty for going to bed late. Nightjar just says “whenever you’re ready” and gets on with it. Exactly the tone I needed.

Price and plans
Family plan sorted the whole house
One subscription for me, my partner and the two kids. The children love the gentle bedtime stories. Took a moment to set up the invites.
