Thermal storage for homes · Aberdeen

Buy your heat at night. Use it all day.

Heatloop is a thermal battery the size of a fridge. It charges from cheap off-peak electricity, holds the energy as heat in a phase-change store, and warms your radiators and hot water whenever you need it.

01How it works

Three steps, every day, without you thinking about it.

Electricity is cheapest when the country is asleep and the wind is still blowing. Heatloop buys it then, and your home doesn’t notice the difference at teatime.

  1. Step 01 · 00:30–07:30

    Charge on the cheap rate

The controller reads your tariff and charges when power is cheapest, usually overnight and sometimes for an hour after lunch.

  2. Step 02 · up to 28 kWh

    Hold it as heat

Sealed cells of a salt-based material melt at 58°C and soak up energy as they do. Vacuum panels keep it in for the day.

  3. Step 03 · whenever you like

Release it to radiators and taps

Water runs through the copper exchanger and comes out at up to 62°C, to the radiators you already have and to your hot taps.

02How much could you shift?

Move most of a cold day’s heat into the cheap hours.

Pick a model and slide to the heat your home uses on a cold winter’s day. A typical three-bedroom semi in Aberdeen uses about 46 kWh.

Estimate

73%

of a 46 kWh day’s heat could be bought at the cheap rate: 33.5 kWh, with 12.5 kWh at the day rate.
