Company

We think heat should be bought like groceries: when it’s cheap, and kept until you need it.

Heatloop started in 2022 in a garage in Torry, when two engineers from the North Sea asked what their city would heat its homes with next. Today we are 34 people with a workshop in Dyce and fifty homes’ worth of data.

01What we believe

What we believe

  1. i.

    Measure it, then say it

Every claim on this site comes from a test rig or a pilot home. Where we’re estimating, we say so and show the sums.

  2. ii.

    Comfort before cleverness

A warm house on a January evening matters more than an elegant charging schedule. The controls are built in that order.

  3. iii.

    Made where it’s used

We design, build and install in the north east, with local suppliers wherever we can, so we can fix what we make.

03Backers

Patient money for hard hardware.

We raised £1.6m before our seed round and £6.5m in it, from investors who understand that heat storage is measured in winters, not quarters.

04Timeline

The story so far

  1. 2022

    A garage in Torry

Seonaid and Rasmus melt their first salt hydrates in a borrowed garage and a lot of saucepans, and Haar Angels write the first cheque.

  2. 2023

    A cell that lasts

The sealed cell design passes 1,000 melt-freeze cycles with no measurable loss. Cairnmoor Capital joins for a £1.6m pre-seed round.

  3. 2024

    Ten pilot homes

Hand-built units go into homes in Cults, Westhill and Bridge of Don, each logging every half hour.

  4. 2025

    Fifty homes, one cold snap

The pilot grows to fifty homes and comes through a week of minus eight without a single cold house.

  5. 2026

Seed round and the Dyce workshop

A £6.5m seed round led by Firthside Ventures. Production moves to Howe Moss Avenue, Dyce, with room for 2,000 units a year.

  6. Next 2027

    500 homes

Installs across Aberdeen and Stonehaven, then Ellon, Inverurie and Banchory.
