Care & delivery
Made to be used. Here’s how.
Looking after stoneware
Everyday washing
Four of our five glazes are happy in the dishwasher. Burnt earth is a dry, satin glaze: wash it by hand to keep the sheen.
Hot and cold
Microwave safe, but not oven or hob safe. Avoid going straight from the fridge into boiling water: stoneware dislikes sudden changes.
The unglazed foot
We sand every foot smooth, but it is raw clay. Put a pad under vases on a polished table, and dry the foot before stacking.
Little marks
Grey cutlery marks on chalk and oat glazes come off with a dab of bicarbonate of soda paste. They are on the surface, not in the glaze.
Glaze by glaze
All of our glazes are lead-free and food safe, and tested at the studio on every batch.
Delivery
We pack on weekdays, in recycled paper and sheep’s wool from a farm up the dale, and send everything with a tracked courier. Workshop places don’t need delivering.
| Where | Price | When |
|---|---|---|
| UK mainland | £5.50, free on pottery over £80 | Three to four working days |
We can’t post to Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man yet. Email us and we’ll work something out.
Returns and breakages
Something arrived broken
It happens, rarely. Send a photo to hello@vennickclay.example within seven days and we’ll send a replacement or refund you, whichever you’d prefer. No need to post the pieces back.
Changing your mind
You can return unused pieces within 30 days for a full refund. Wrap them as well as we did, and send them back to 17 Kirkgate, Otley LS21 3AB. Made-to-order pieces can be returned too.
Seconds
Seconds are sold in the shop on kiln-opening Saturdays, a third off. They are perfectly usable, just not quite what we meant. We can’t take seconds back, so have a good look before you buy.
Workshop places
Tell us at least seven days before and we’ll move you to another date or refund you. After that, you’re welcome to send a friend in your place.
