Flower care guide
Keep them happy for longer.
Five minutes every couple of days can add the best part of a week to a bouquet. Here’s what Oonagh does at home.
Your day-by-day plan
Tell us when your flowers arrived and we’ll show you what they need today.
Day 1
The basics
A clean vase
Bacteria block stems. Wash the vase in hot soapy water before you fill it, every time.
Cut at an angle
A sharp diagonal cut gives the stem more surface to drink through. Use scissors, not your fingers.
Use the sachet
The flower food in the bag feeds the flowers and keeps the water clear. Half on day one, half on day four.
No leaves underwater
Anything below the waterline rots and clouds the water. Strip it off before the flowers go in.
Cool, not cold
Away from radiators, sunny windowsills and the fruit bowl. A cool room overnight helps.
Keep pets safe
Lilies are dangerous to cats, even the pollen. Ask us to leave them out when you order.
Flower by flower
No flowers match that. Ask us on 01743 296 418 and we’ll tell you how to look after it.
