Hosting a good evening
i.
Start with the place
Ask everyone to pick one passage where the landscape did something to them. It gets quiet members talking, and nobody can be wrong.
ii.
Vote on the culprit
Before you discuss the ending, go round the room: who did each person suspect, and at which page? Clemency loves hearing the answers.
iii.
Bring something salty
Samphire, crisps, a bowl of whelks if you’re brave. Mercery Lane Books offers ten per cent off sets of six or more copies for reading groups.
