How long do I have to make a claim?
Most employment tribunal claims have to be started within three months less one day. Before you can claim, you normally have to notify ACAS and try early conciliation, which can pause the clock.
-
Dismissed on 15 March? The usual last day is 14 June.
-
Statutory redundancy pay has six months instead.
-
Waiting for an internal appeal doesn’t usually stop the clock.
Estimated time limit
Contact ACAS to start early conciliation before this date. It’s a required step for most claims.
An estimate only. The real deadline depends on your facts: for example, which act is the “last” one, and how early conciliation affects it. Don’t leave it to the last day.
