Porches, music and Five Points
Victorian and craftsman homes on deep lots, a bar and restaurant scene at Five Points, and the Shelby Bottoms greenway on the river. The most character per dollar in the city, and buyers know it.
Best for: Creative types, first move-up buyers, anyone who wants to know their neighbors
Big lots, mid-century bones
Ranches and Tudor cottages on a third of an acre, a short drive from East Nashville. Gallatin Pike has filled up with good restaurants, and prices still leave room for a renovation budget.
Best for: First-time buyers, gardeners, people with dogs (or plans for one)
Brick, restaurants and the market
Nashville’s oldest neighborhood: brick rowhouses, new townhomes and condos a walk from the farmers market, the ballpark and some of the best restaurants in town. Lock-and-leave living.
Best for: Downsizers, frequent travelers, people who never want to mow again
Modern builds, breweries, the Silo
A former rail-yard neighborhood remade with tall, skinny modern homes, breweries and coffee shops, plus the painted grain silo everyone photographs. Easy access to I-40 and the west side.
Best for: Young professionals, buyers who want new and low maintenance
Bungalows on the state streets
Craftsman bungalows on streets named for states, a walkable strip on Murphy Road and the Richland Creek Greenway. It sells fast: well-priced homes rarely last a weekend.
Best for: Young families, runners, people who like a village feel
Sevier Park and the shops
Cottages and new builds a block or two from the 12th Avenue shops, coffee and Sevier Park. The priciest of my six neighborhoods, and the one people fall for on a Saturday morning.
Best for: Move-up buyers and anyone who wants to walk everywhere
