INDEPENDENT ALTERATIONS & REPAIRALNWICK, NORTHUMBERLAND
Pleat.

06 / The studio

Three pairs of hands.
One careful way of working.

A small independent workroom above Fenkle Street. We have been helping Alnwick wear what it loves since 2014.

From the studio ledger / Pleat

A workroom, not a production line

Cloth has a memory.
We pay attention to it.

Pleat began with a second-hand industrial machine, a cutting table and a steady stream of neighbours with trousers under their arms. The workroom has grown. The idea has stayed small.

We keep a record of the finish you like, use the seam allowance already there, and keep original details wherever we can. The aim is a garment that feels right—rather than a garment that looks altered.

We make room for an honest no, too. If the cloth is too fragile or the change would cost more than you want to spend, we explain why before you commit.

People who notice the small things.

The Pleat way

A few things
we stand by.

Agree it first.

No extra work without a conversation. The guide price becomes a firm price once we have seen the garment and agreed the finish.

Leave a way back.

Where the cloth allows, we preserve generous seams and reversible finishes. Bodies change. Good clothes can change with them.

Your clothes.
Your way of wearing them.

We welcome every body, every wardrobe and every reason for wanting something to fit better. Tell us what would make a fitting comfortable for you. We will make time.
