Bio
Marigold Static are a four-piece indie band from the Southside of Glasgow, making warm, synth-lit songs about weather, night buses and the people you wait out the rain with. Their second album, Weather for Two, is out on 13 November 2026 on Lantern House Records.
Marigold Static are Isla Carrick, Reuben Oyelaran, Fenna de Wit and Callum Shiach, a four-piece from the Southside of Glasgow who met on a night bus in 2017 and started rehearsing above a launderette on Allison Street.
Their debut album Lowland Signal (2024) was shortlisted for Scottish Independent Album of the Year and took them across the UK, Europe and North America. The follow-up, Weather for Two, was written through one wet Glasgow winter and recorded live to tape in nine days with producer Ailsa Braid. It is out on 13 November 2026 on Lantern House Records, led by the single “Glasshouse”, and followed by a 21-date tour across three continents.
Marigold Static started in the winter of 2017, when Isla Carrick and Reuben Oyelaran ended up on the same night bus home from a ceilidh and spent the journey arguing about whether synthesizers count as folk instruments. Drummer Callum Shiach answered a handwritten note in a Victoria Road record shop; bassist Fenna de Wit, who had moved from Utrecht to study sound engineering, joined after a single rehearsal in the room above an Allison Street launderette.
The debut single “Overpass” came out in 2019 as 300 lathe-cut 7-inches and sold out at its launch show. The Sodium Light EP was finished in lockdown with every part recorded in a different flat, and Night Bus Hymns (2022) brought a first national radio session. Signed to Lantern House Records on the strength of “Paper Moons”, the band released their debut album Lowland Signal in 2024. It was shortlisted for Scottish Independent Album of the Year and toured across 74 shows in the UK, Europe and North America.
The second album, Weather for Two, was written through one long, wet Glasgow winter and recorded live to tape in nine days at Gartnavel Hall with producer Ailsa Braid. It is the band’s warmest and biggest-sounding record yet: bigger synths, closer vocals, strings arranged by Fenna on two songs and, on “Second Summer”, Callum’s first lead vocal. It is out on 13 November 2026, led by the single “Glasshouse”, with a 21-date tour that opens with two hometown nights at the Gallowgate Ballroom.
