Fees & insurance

Fees, sliding scale and insurance

Cost shouldn’t be a mystery, or the reason you don’t get support. Here’s what sessions cost, how our sliding scale works and what to expect from your insurance.

Session fees

Fees depend on the clinician’s license, not on what you come in for. The first consultation call is always free.

Groups

$55 per 90-minute session. Some plans cover group therapy; we’ll check for you.

Paying

Card, HSA or FSA card, charged after each session through our secure client portal. You get a receipt every month.

Cancelling

Free with 24 hours’ notice. Later cancellations are $75 (never billed to insurance), waived for illness or emergencies.

Sliding scale

Check your sliding-scale fee

Eamon, Nadira and Iver keep part of their week for sliding-scale clients, from $40 a session. The fee is based on your household’s yearly income compared with the federal poverty guidelines, which we update every year.

We don’t ask for pay stubs. We trust you to choose honestly, and we review the fee together every six months.

This is an estimate for individual sessions with a clinician who holds sliding-scale spots; spots are limited and offered in the order requests arrive. Couples sessions on the scale are $20 more.

Insurance

Is your plan in network?

We’re in network with three health plans and one employee assistance program. With any other plan, we can give you a monthly superbill to claim out-of-network benefits yourself.

Network status can change, and coverage depends on your specific plan. We always confirm your benefits before your first session.

Questions to ask your plan

  • Do I have outpatient mental health benefits?
  • What’s my deductible, and how much is left this year?
  • What do I pay per session for codes 90791 and 90837?
  • Do I have out-of-network benefits, and at what percentage?
  • Do I need pre-authorization or a referral?

Your rights

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, if you don’t have insurance or aren’t using it, health care providers have to give you a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care.

You can ask us for one at any time. We’ll send it before your first session and give you an updated one if anything changes, such as a new fee or a change in how often we meet.

If your bill ends up at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Keep a copy of your estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.
